Do you need an instrument that is slightly darker, or slightly brighter or one that is in the middle- neither too dark nor too bright?
OscurO and ClarO models represent a fundamental difference of tonal instrument color:
Dark (brown) or Bright (red).
You are likely to prefer one or the other based on this fundamental difference in how each produces sound.
The OscurO model leans darker in overall shape, while ClarO leans brighter in the overall shape of sound. You can find both models become similar with brown and red bands. But even then, OscurO will have just a slightly bigger sound and lean dark and Claro will have a slightly smaller shape than OscurO and lean brighter.
Our OscurO Models, come standard with gold engraving, tan leatherette plate, and are available in Bb, A and Eb clarinet. We have been told they are most in line with modern-day Buffet R13’s.
Our ClarO Models, come standard with silver engraving, and our red leatherette plate. ClarO is available in Bb, A, Eb and Low Bb bass.
ClarO comes standard in Bb and A with a grenadilla blend top joint which will never crack. Our ClarO Eb comes standard with the entire body in grenadilla blend and wood barrels and bell. The bass is entirely made from grenadilla blend.
Each ClarO has a slightly brighter shape of sound- one that brings more vibrant colorings and greater resonance, more like vintage Buffet R13’s from the 80’s.
